Design Practice based near York in North Yorkshire. IMS Landscape
Consultancy specialise in the creation of meaningful outdoor places where
experience is considered as important as aesthetics and function. Ian Simkins has been involved in designing landscapes since 1995. Design skills are While at college Ian was the co-designer of the Silver-Gilt winning Askham Bryan College entry at the 1994 Chelsea Flower Show. Ian subsequently taught garden design at Askham Bryan College, and has been lecturing in Higher Education since 2000 initially at Leeds Metropolitan University and subsequently as an Associate Tutor at the University of Sheffield. In
2007 Ian and Kevin published their research: In addition to the experiential landscape research, Ian and Kevin are also active members of UStED (Urban Sustainability through Environmental Design) an International network of urban design theorists and practitioners formed to research, co-ordinate and disseminate tools of sustainable urban design, with special emphasis on urban public space and its value to sustaining fulfilled lives (www.usted-urbandesign.org) The
